The Women Enterprise Recovery Fund partnered with private sector innovators to design and launch digital solutions that support women enterprises that COVID-19 has economically impacted and address their financial and other business requirements.
This innovation is supported by the Women Enterprise Recovery Fund, which is funded by the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO), the Government of Canada, and Visa Inc. The Fund is jointly implemented by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Catalyzing Women’s Entrepreneurship programme in partnership with the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) under its ‘No one is left behind in the Digital Era’ strategy. The Fund is hosted by UNCDF’s Fund Facility Investment mechanism, which is supported by the Australian Government.
Why this win is important to us?
As an advocate of financial inclusion, we believe that supporting those most vulnerable in society become resilient is crucial. And the pandemic has widen the finance gaps as we've seen many MSMEs (especially women-owned enterprises) shut down business due to the lack of or limited resources and knowledge to technology, as well as a more tightened lending procedures. And as more and more consumers opt for a no contact means to shop, going digital is the only way forward. And we know that these MSMEs are most vulnerable.
We at Kiu, makes digitalization and funds more accessible to these MSMEs by providing access to technology, and more importantly means to access capital funds to sustain and grow their businesses.
